The TechChange Model
We seek to leverage the best in online learning pedagogy and our years of experience teaching in-person and online. It’s not easy, but below are some of the way we make it work. We emphasize real-time interaction and exercises over anything else.
Every course has an average of 50 students from over 20 countries and features a number of international experts

Take courses during layovers, on lunch breaks, or in your pajamas. All live events are recorded and archived so you can go at your own pace. Course content is mobile and tablet-friendly

Point systems, visual maps, engaging graphics and other video game mechanics ensure our courses are fun and dynamic
- Inability to participate during the formal four-week duration of the course. In these cases, a complimentary voucher for enrollment in a subsequent session of the same course will be provided.
Enrollment paid by wire transfer. For a variety of legal and logistical reasons, refund by wire transfer is often not possible. In these cases, a complimentary voucher for enrollment in any subsequent TechChange course will be provided.

TechChange courses are delivered entirely online. Each course is designed to be highly interactive and social, but we also work hard to ensure that the majority of content can experienced in a self-paced manner. We do feature real-time interactions each week such as live discussions, live expert interviews, and live simulations. In order to accommodate busy schedules of learners from around the world we’ve set up a learning environment where participants have plenty of options and can choose the ones they’d like to be involved with depending on their availability and interest.
We recommend dedicating a minimum of 7-9 hours a week for your course. Some participants choose to spend more and some less. All live events (video interviews, chats, radio shows) are archived and the facilitator produces weekly recaps for those that fall behind. All course content is also available for 4 months after the course ends so participants can revisit it, should they need to.
Absolutely! You’ll be able to access all course materials for at least 4 months after the course ends so you can catch up on things you missed and work through content at your own pace.
Courses are delivered completely online and as such require a consistent connection to the Internet and a working internet browser. We recommend the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari. Note: we suggest Internet Explorer (IE) users upgrade to at least IE 8, although the platform will still work with IE 7 and above. We have optimized our courses to be accessible in low-bandwidth environments. TechChange has a dedicated tech support team that is always available to assist with specific individual concerns and work to ensure all your needs are met.
Great! All you need to do is fill out this brief online application. Once we receive it, our application selection committee will review it and someone from the TechChange team will be in touch within 1-3 business days regarding the status of your application. Early registration dates and discounts are indicated on the individual course pages. Admitted students will then be sent a secure link to choose their payment option.
Participants can pay for courses through PayPal, Credit Card, Wire Transfer or by sending a check to TechChange. Our address is 2001 13th ST NW, 3rd Floor, Washington DC, 20009.
All online courses are protected by the TechChange refund policy, in place to ensure any participant unsatisfied with their learning experience can receive a full refund on their course enrollment. To receive a refund, a participant must email documentation of payment to firstname.lastname@example.org and submit a course evaluation detailing reason for refund request within 14 days of the course end date. After that window, a refund cannot be made.
Cases in which the Participant Satisfaction Refund Policy does not apply in full:
TechChange uses a point system called TechPoints to keep track of participation. Participants must earn a minimum number of points to receive TechChange certification for each course.
We are working with a number of academic institutions to be able to offer credit for our courses in the coming year. TechChange staff currently teach for-credit graduate-level courses at American, George Mason and George Washington Universities as well as the United Nations University for Peace. We are happy to work with individual participants to provide letters of support to home institutions. We also currently have a partnership with the National Peace Academy. Some of our courses can be taken as part of NPA’s National Peacebuilding Peacelearning Certificate Program, a program designed to make learning for peace accessible, available and affordable for all.
You bet! As far as the price, it depends on the course but we generally offer discounts for 5-9 participants and additional discounts for groups of 10 or more.
